Mexico, D. F., November 1st, 2007.- The Communications and Transports Secretary, through the Ports and Merchant Marine General Coordination, has created two maritime bridges in the area of the Gulf of Mexico with the objective of transporting food and merchandise to the flooded areas in Tabasco.

Thereby, a dock has been enabled in the ports of Tuxpan and Coatzacoalcos where all the merchandise to be destined to the disaster area shall be embarked. So, both routes will get directly to the port of Dos Bocas, in Tabasco, which was just re-opened to navigation.

So far, and coming from Tuxpan, has already disembarked in that port the Papaloapan vessel of the Mexican Navy, which transported medical equipment, amphibian trucks as well as flat-bottom boats, Zodiac type.

The objective of the maritime bridges is to facilitate the aid coming from other Mexican States, as well as from the Red Cross and other NGOs, welfare institutions and the general population.

In this way are already available the supplier ship “Doņa Diana”, of Naviera Integral, with a load capacity of 3 thousand tons, as well as the Cemex 1, with a load capacity of 6 thousand tons and a haul capacity of 47 containers.

Among the merchandise and the equipment to be taken to the disaster area, are drinking water, sheets, canned foods, medicines, water purifying and power machines, and all that can be helpful for satisfying the needs created by the emergency.
