For the first time in the maritime history of Southeast Mexico and since the Container Terminal of Yucatan (CTY) started working, on July 1st, 2005, 613 movements were carried out by one single ship.

On Wednesday, August 23rd, we had this historical activity with the ship Hansa Arendal, of Maersk Sealand, in Progreso, it arrived from Houston on its way to Panama.

The ship docked on pier 6, with 350 m long and 32 feet of draught, and the movements lasted 24 non-stop hours.

The operations were handled with a quietness and efficiency at the level of the best ports in the World, with an average of more than 25 containers per hour.

The investment in infastructure, equipment and top-of-the line technology, made by the CTY costing more than 160 million pesos, support a safe, fast and efficient cargo handling for all Southeast Mexico.

CTY operates with the latest generation of software that allows an order management operation of this magnitude and the timely and orderly deliverance of all of the cargo’s documents and drawing; the current equipment:

• 2 Panamax Bridge Cranes.
• 1 Traveling Derrick.
• 4 Reach Stackers.
• 1 Top Loader.

75 containers of 40 feet each were unloaded, 388 containers of 20 feet each were loaded, 164 containers of 40, as well as 32 covers and 2 gearboxes.
