On October 23rd, the last stage of the moving was carried out; the investment by the Integral Port Management of Progreso was 21.1 million pesos, Mexican Currency.

The benefits of the relocation of the new Maritime customs, provide the port and its customers with more efficient and updated facilities to speed up the foreign trade merchandise and cruise passengers procedures, thus preventing the obstruction in the vehicle traffic that used to occur when it was set at the beginning of the port viaduct.

The new facilities prevent the bottleneck created by the handling of merchandise at the port’s entry, with this the traffic of all kinds of vehicles is visibly relieved; on the other hand, the different entry points to the customs facilities allow a speedy revision to the cargo vehicles.

Other issue that are worth highlighting is the improved handling of the merchandise in the customs revisions of the platform positions of the first and second inspections are duplicated, and there is also a closed compound with air conditioning that allows an adequate handling of perishable products. No less important to mention is the customs’ building its beautiful architecture that combines with the surroundings, which prevails in the interior of the port’s facilities.
The new Maritime Customs includes a 3 hectares platform, north of the Halfway Terminal, for accommodating all services related with the customs inspections. The Integral Port Management of Progreso was the one in charge of the works investment, for construction of highways, patios, 5 control stalls with closed circuit tv, 3 inspection sheds and a scale on the km 5 of the Remote Terminal.
