The port of Progreso begins 2007 with the arrival of 3 cruise ships on the first 4 days of the year, receiving 4,823 passengers with 1,893 crew members of american, german, british, belgian, french and dutch nationalities.

In January 1st, coming from Houston on its way to Cozumel, came the Norwegian Dream, of NCL Cruise Lines,with 1,872 passengers and 707 crew members.
On the 2nd, coming from Cozumel on its way to Galveston, came the Ecstasy, of Carnival Cruise Lines, with 2,406 passengers and 907 crew members.

On the 4th, coming from Fort Lauderdale and on its way to Cozumel, came the Europa, of Hapag-Lloyd Kreuzfahrten Cruise Lines, with 331 passengers, of which 191 disembarked for a tour around the State and return to their countries of origin by plane. Likewise, 214 passengers that arrived to Yucatan by plane embarked, so it will set sail with 354 passengers and 279 crew members.

The Europa will remain at the port for 3 days and will set sail on Saturday January the 6th, at 2200 hours. 80f its passengers are german, and the rest are english, belgium, swiss, french and dutch.

The cruise ship’s passengers enjoy of 17 organized tours, visiting archaeological sites as Chichen-Itza (90 min.), Uxmal (90 min.), Dzibilchaltun (20 min.), colonial cities as Merida (30 min.), XVII century convents, cenotes, caves, colonial haciendas and beautiful beaches, resting and enjoying the coast in Progreso and Telchac, doing sports and aquatic activities or playing golf just 20 minutes away from the ship in a year average weather of 79° F and the exquisite Yucatecan gastronomy, all toghether representing the richness of the Maya culture, that so appeals to the international tourism.

The cruise ships terminal has an area of 5.5 hectares, 2 docking positions with capacity for servicing 2 last generation mega cruise ships at the same time, the north and south docks with 320 meters long and 30 feet of draught, as well as 1 docking position to receive ferries that is 180 meters long and has 23 feet of draught.

The Port of Progreso has on its facilities for cruise ships 22 business presmises, 2 bars, a pool and a playground, an area designed for the exclusive use of the crew members, public phones, drinking water service for the ships and ecological treatment for organic-inorganic-dangerous wastes, fire prevention services, bunker, car rental, moorage, free continuous transportation for passengers and crew members port-city-port, among others.
