In 2006, the Port of progreso increased the movement of refrigerated cargo, with a total of 44,636 tons, compared to the 27,832 handled in 2005.

The export of perishables was increased, moving a total of 34,685 tons, compared to the 19,950 tons operated in 2005, and the import of perishables totaled 9,951 tonnes, compared to the 7,882 tons handled in 2005.

The export of sea products had the following destinations: United States, Europe, and Asia, with a total of 9,305 tons; the main products were: Octopus, fish, lobster, crab, shrimp and clams.

The meat exports had Japan’s markets as a main destination, with 1,557 tons.

Thr fruits and vegetables exports represented a movement of 9,070 and 14,756 tons respectively, standing out among the citrics the grapefruit and the orange, destined to Holland and the United Kingdom and among the vegetables, the cucumber, with the destination of the United States, with a total of 14,726 tons handled.

The most representative imports were products as cheeses, potatoes, peaches, apples, fish, salmon and mussel with a total of 9,951 tons received from the markets of Chile, Holland, New Zealand, Belgium, Spain, Germany and Indonesia.
