Mexico, D. F., November 7th, 2007.- “Up to this moment, we have received 600 tons of humanitary aid, which has been transported by land and air to the city of Villahermosa, Tabasco”, stated Mr. Roberto de la Garza Licon, Director of the Integral Port Management (API) of Dos Bocas, Tabasco.

However, they are still waiting for at least 200 tons more of victuals to arrive to that port, and therefore, it’s planned the arrival, this Thursday, of a supplying ship with 5 containers with food, medicines, clothes and bottled water. Such ship will sail from the port of Tampico.

“Fortunately, other maritime bridges are already being stablished for supplying victuals to Villahermosa”, said the director.

In this way, besides Tampico, the ports of Tuxpan in Veracruz, and Progreso in Yucatan are now working as hoarding centers for shipping the humanitary aid towards Tabasco.

“We have talked to the offices in each one of the ports and it all be about the total volume of aid hoarded, so it can be transported in ships to Dos Bocas, hoping that it can be received the next weekend”, outlines Mr. Roberto de la Garza.

The Port of Dos Bocas has received in the last week the arrival, first of all, of the ship Papaloapan, of the Mexican Armed Navy, with five amphibian vehicles, two flat-bottom boats with outboard engines and 25 tons of victuals.

On the other hand, also from the Mexican Navy, arrived the ship Huasteco, with 25 tons of food, sanitary products, clothes and sheets, as well as a medical brigade with medicines.

Likewise, Cemex Inc., sent its ship Cerro de Bernal, with 300 tons of aids and the Government of Veracruz sent the ship Tlacotlalpan with a cargo of 25 tons for helping the casualties.

“The commitment of the port of Dos Bocas is to continue supporting the aid works that the three levels of the government are providing to the flooded areas in the state of Tabasco” ended Mr. de la Garza.
